Daily Dive
7 prompts · 25s each · once a day
What is Krillion?
Krillion is a daily trivia game about rare answers. Most quiz games ask a question with exactly one correct reply; Krillion flips that around. Every prompt is deliberately open-ended — name a country in Africa, a franchise that has won an NBA championship, a type of cheese — and nearly any answer that fits is accepted. What separates a great score from an average one is not whether you are right. It is how few people thought of the same answer as you.
The scoring works like a dive. Obvious, first-thought answers — the ones everyone types in the first three seconds — are worth the fewest points. Semi-obscure answers are worth more. Genuinely deep, “how do you even know that” answers are worth the most. Every point you earn converts into ten meters of depth, so a finished run reads like a dive log: 320 points means you went 3,200 meters below the surface. A perfect seven-prompt dive is 700 points, and almost nobody gets there, because the safest answers are always the shallowest.
One design choice makes the game genuinely competitive: everyone gets the same seven prompts. The daily dive is identical for every player worldwide, which means your score can be compared with a friend's, posted, and argued about — without spoiling a single answer, because no two players ever submit the same set. It is the same mechanic that made word-guessing daily games a global habit, applied to trivia, where the answer space is hundreds of times bigger and the replay incentive is stronger: there is always a rarer answer you could have found.
Krilliondle is an independent fan-made tribute to this format. The original game lives at krillion.io. Our implementation is our own and our prompts and answer banks are written and graded by our own editors — nothing here is copied from the original, and our scores do not sync with it.
How the daily dive works
A dive is seven prompts. Each prompt gives you 25 seconds and one typing box. You can submit as many attempts as you fit inside the clock — an answer that is not in our answer bank is simply rejected and costs nothing. Only a prompt that ends with no accepted answer (skipped, or timed out) scores zero. Here is the whole ruleset:
| Prompts per dive | 7, identical for every player that day |
|---|---|
| Time per prompt | 25 seconds, one prompt at a time |
| Answers per prompt | One accepted answer decides your score; unlimited tries inside the clock |
| Rejected answer | Costs nothing — keep typing until the timer ends |
| Skipped or timed out | Scores 0 for that prompt |
| Final score | Sum of all seven rarity scores, max 700 |
When does the new Krillion drop?
The daily dive changes at midnight, New York time, every day of the year. Because the US shifts between standard and daylight time, that moment moves by an hour twice a year in every other timezone. Here is the exact reset time around the world:
| City | Standard time (winter) | Daylight time (summer) |
|---|---|---|
| New York | 00:00 | 00:00 |
| UTC | 05:00 | 04:00 |
| London | 05:00 | 05:00 (UK shifts too) |
| Beijing | 13:00 | 12:00 |
| Sydney | 16:00 | 15:00 (AEDT) |
A new dive is ready the moment that clock rolls over. Play it with your morning coffee in New York, on your lunch break in Europe, or with dinner in Asia — whenever your midnight-adjacent slot lands.
Daily dive vs Krillion Unlimited
One dive a day not enough? Krillion Unlimited is the endless mode: the same open prompts and the same rarity scoring, but with three lives instead of a once-a-day cap. The two modes score separately and neither affects the other's streak.
| Daily dive | Unlimited | |
|---|---|---|
| How often | Once a day, fixed 7 prompts | As many runs as you like |
| Lives | None — a zero just scores 0 | 3; a zero-score prompt costs one |
| Prompts | Same for everyone | Drawn at random from the bank |
| Streak | Counts only the daily dive | Never touches your streak |
How your answer is scored
Every accepted answer belongs to one of six rarity tiers. The tier, not a stopwatch and not a multiplier, decides your points. Rarity grades are set by our editors when a prompt is written — they are not live player statistics — so a tier means the same thing today and in six months:
| Tier | Points | What lands here |
|---|---|---|
| Plankton | 10 | The first answer everyone thinks of — floating right on the surface |
| Too Clever | 15 | Answers that feel clever but are really everyone’s second thought |
| Schooler | 30 | Solid mid-depth knowledge; you know the category beyond the famous |
| Rare | 60 | Genuinely uncommon answers — most players never type these |
| Deep Cut | 85 | Deep specialist knowledge; hearing one is a small event |
| One in a Krillion | 100 | The rarest accepted answers in the bank — a perfect find |
A quick example: asked to name a pizza topping, pepperoni is Plankton — safe, worth 10. Olives are Too Clever, worth 15, because everyone thinks they are being clever ordering them. Artichoke hearts are Rare, worth 60. And a topping almost nobody dares type is One in a Krillion, worth the full 100. All of them are correct. Only one of them wins the internet argument.
Replay past dives
Every daily dive stays on the record. Once a date has passed, its seven prompts remain available with the full answer bank — including which answers were Plankton-safe and which sat at the very bottom in the One in a Krillion tier. Replaying an old dive is the best way to calibrate your instincts: you learn what our editors treat as “everyone knows that” versus “how do you even know that”, and that calibration is exactly what raises your score on tomorrow's dive.
The archive is also where the long game lives. Regular players use it to hunt for rarer answers on prompts they already “solved” — finding a Deep Cut on a three-week-old prompt is its own small victory, and it is the only place in the game where you can beat your own past score on the same seven prompts. The archive grows by exactly one dive per day, forever.
Questions about Krillion
What is Krillion?
Krillion is a daily rare-answer trivia game. Instead of multiple-choice questions with one right answer, every prompt is open: "Name a country in Africa" has dozens of valid answers. The twist is that you are scored on how rare your answer is. Everyone on the planet gets the same seven prompts each day, which makes scores comparable without spoiling anyone's answers.
Is Krilliondle free?
Yes. Every mode on krilliondle.com is completely free — the daily dive, Unlimited runs, and the archive. There is no account to create, nothing to download, and no paywall of any kind. Your streak and best scores are stored on your own device.
How many prompts are in the daily dive?
Seven. The same seven prompts go out to everyone at the same time, once per day, and they are retired at the next reset. You submit one answer per prompt, and your final score is the sum of all seven rarity scores.
How long do I get for each prompt?
25 seconds. The clock starts the moment the prompt appears. If your answer is rejected — not in our answer bank — it costs you nothing, and you can keep typing until the timer runs out.
How is my answer scored?
Every accepted answer lands in one of six rarity tiers, from Plankton (10 points, the answers everyone thinks of first) up to One in a Krillion (100 points, the answers almost nobody reaches). Rarity grades are set by our editors, not by live player statistics, and every point equals ten meters of dive depth.
When does the daily dive reset?
At midnight New York time, every day. That is 04:00 or 05:00 UTC depending on daylight saving time, 12:00 or 13:00 in Beijing, and 15:00 or 16:00 in Sydney. The countdown to the next dive is shown on this page.
Can I replay past dives?
Yes. Every daily dive stays available once the archive is open, so you can go back to any date, see the seven prompts again, and find out what the rarest accepted answers were. The archive grows by one dive every single day.
Is this the official Krillion game?
No. Krilliondle is an independent fan-made tribute. Our game implementation and our question bank are our own — they are not copied from the original, and our scores and streaks do not sync with it. If you want the original daily game, play it at krillion.io.
